NEW LOCATION

We wrote in a few days ago about the issue we were having with toy guns in public places. We needed to look into the laws behind carrying realistic toy guns as our private location was no longer available (hense why we needed to shoot in a public woods).
Thankfully, we have managed to find another private location! It is owned by one of our friends so we have permission from the land owner and will be putting up the permission letter ASAP.
The new location is just what we needed, and is pretty much the same as the last one. It's in a forest, there's lots of tree coverage and also no members of the public!
We'll be getting the photos of the new location at some point this evening, so we're all ready to start shooting!

Camera Movements

Whilst filling out the textual analysis sheet for My Chemical Romance's 'Ghost of You' video, I've been really inspired by several of the shots/movements.
The video shows soldiers going to war and fighting etc, and it looks very realistic. They've used steady cam a lot throughout the combat scenes which makes the video look more real and also more horrific.
I really liked this idea and would like to include at least one steady cam shot in our music video.

Shot List (Written Storyboard)

I completed the written storyboard today for our music video. Because our song is 5 minutes long, we have around 150 shots we need to get done. Due to this fact, we have decided to start filming very soon.
Within the shot list, I've left some time for our actors interpretations (they can choose what they do in that shot). I've done this because the actors we've chosen are cadets- they know what actions they need to do for the shots to look realistic, where as we do not.
I'm pleased with the finished list and think that it will be really helpful when we're shooting.

Signs

Another idea we had for the signs was to have war quotes written on them (as well as comrade, father, son etc.)
I've researched some and these are the quotes which I think would be most suitable for our video:

  • 'Only the dead have seen the end of the war.'
    George Santayana
  • 'War is hell.'
    William Tecumseh Sherman
  • 'We are going to have peace even if we have to fight for it.'
    Dwight D. Eisenhower

We also thought about having the soldier who dies holding up a sign saying something along the lines of 'proud to serve'.

Signs

We want to have people holding signs up in our music video, with black marker pen on an A3 sized sheet of paper - naming loved ones who they have lost to war - e.g. Brother, Son etc.
Black Gothic is the font we used - drawn over with marker pen.

Website Design Idea

This is a rough copy of the idea for our website homepage for Thirty Seconds To Mars

Pitch Feedback

These are few of the notes that people from our Media class made about the content of our pitch. The things they wrote were very helpful feedback, making us think about things that were good about our idea and the things that we need to things about in more detail and changes that we might need to make to our idea.
